Delivering a sustainable scheme is a key objective for Hammerson. Sustainability is an issue that permeates the entire design process and this development will exceed London's 10% target for renewable energy. The site will not only address sustainability objectives required as part of the planning process but will also deliver sustainable, long term benefits for the local community.
Up to 50% of the building's heating is to be provided through biomass
Reduce the use of primary resources by using sustainable and recycled materials where possible
Minimise the amount of waste sent to landfill
Reduce carbon emissions from onsite operations by using energy efficient and/or renewable energy techniques
The building's design maximises the level of natural daylight
Reduce water demand from the development by implementing innovative design solutions including water efficient fittings, harvesting rainwater and sustainable drainage
Increase biodiversity of the site through provision of green and brown roofs to create new habitats for a variety of wildlife and plants
Maximise the use of sustainable modes of transport and closely linking the site to the public transport network. Approximately 700 bicycle spaces will also be created.
High quality landscaped public open spaces
Creating a development accessible for all members of the community, including
